Artist Statement
My love of art has been a driving force in my life. The inspiration for my work today comes from traveling around the world, and by observing what I see both in my travels and here at home. I feel that I am closer to the impressionists in my own work. I see color in light, dark and broad shapes, and I wish to convey the power and meaning of those shapes to the viewer by my application of color. I employ acrylics because it gives me the freedom to apply color in a way that makes sense to me. I see shapes and I put a color to those shapes to express and communicate its essence. Color is my means of that expression. I believe that art is a very personal experience. It should speak to the heart. My heart sings when I paint. I hope you can hear the tune.
