These women inspired so many during that time in history and continue to spur us forward today! Their strength of character speaks volumes, which is why the Gladiolus is today’s featured flower. This ravishing tower of blooms stands tall and proud, speaking boldly of integrity and strength. God sees us through trials, allowing us to grow stronger in Him with each painful step. As it has been said, “No pain, no gain!” This is true of building muscle as well as your spiritual core. David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith. He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting in 1976.

I have completed 80 artworks to date and have another two-nearing completion.

It was recently put to me by the buyer of my artwork, The Price of Sugar, that I often (not always) deal with emotive and hard-hitting issues with a touch of humour. I think he is right. I have sold a number of originals. Most recently I sold my oil painting, A Royal Dilemma to a professional collector/ art dealer in Texas, United Sates, via Saatchi Art, also I have sold The Victorian Policeman, via Saatchi Art to a professional collector/ art dealer in Montreal, Canada, and The Price of Sugar, to a professional collector/art dealer in London, UK. I have sold a number of works locally through exhibitions at a nearby stately home and the Art Yard Gallery. I have sold several hundred prints to date to members of the public in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, and France.

On Friday 24th February 2023, a collector from Scotland visited me at home and after viewing my work purchased. Adrift, Stonewall 1969 and Rainbow Bird. I am honoured by the compliment paid me.

Most recently my original artwork, The Front line, sold to a collector in Washington DC, USA.

I have found my artwork will sell when seen in the right places by people who are looking to buy. Like all artists, my problem is being in the right places at the right time.

I create in oil paint and mixed-use materials usually on canvas board. I am a member of the Midland Paint Group. I have exhibited widely in the UK and have a strong online presence (this is of course a subjective assessment).

Artist statement for David W Westwood

David grew up in the shadow of Birmingham, England. The second largest city in the UK. He comes from a working class back-ground. David is gay and came out to his family at the age of 16 in 1984. At first his family rejected his sexuality. AIDS was hitting the headlines as, “the gay plague,” and they really did not understand why he had, “chosen,” to be gay. Eventually however, they realized it was not a choice and they did accept him. This conflict is documented in many of David’s artworks along with his interest in history and politics.

His artwork is created to be seen and when it has been looked at his has achieved his goal. He creates two types of art, that which carries a message and that which exists just to be pretty. David suffers with hereditary mental health problems, but he has never let it hold him back.

He has studied Law via the Certified Institute of Legal Executives; he has a Bachelors Degree in History and in total 23 academic and skills-based qualification.

David has written several novels and turned to oil painting, then moved on to mixed media and experimental art after the end of a long-term relationship in 2013. He began creating in the evening to fill the void left by his absent partner. Now he cannot image life without a paint brush. He has exhibited widely across the UK and has a strong online presence. He has sold a small number of originals and a lot of prints, which have been sold worldwide.

'It's not my family' The Cranberries

The inspiration here is probably spiritual, been working on the concept for the last few months. Now it's ready. The screen printed image is 24x36 inches and is stretched on a gallery frame, housed in floating frame. Wall installation hardware inclused. The title is from the lyrics of 'Cranberries' song Zombie (about people not caring when it's not their family).

A certificate of authenticity is provided with each print.

Robert Lavigne AKA Frankenstein Artiste
As a new artist, I have drawn inspiration from abstract, abstract neo- expressionism, minimalist, spiritual and street art. My work is entirely unique to me, incorporating with my own perspective, interests and life experiences.
I work mainly on a flat bed table, handy for large size screen printing and cut-out stencil work. Plus many hand based methods and for effects and embellishments.
My aka is Frankenstein Artiste, my actual name is Robert Lavigne, I needed a handle.

Some artwork in this Limited Edition art sold as canvas only, others are sold stretched on stretcher bar fames, some sold stretched and in a decorative floating frame, and others sold (as per photo) with everything including chains and sometimes rings attached.

A wave crashes onto the shore beneath clouds that form the stripes of an American flag, with a dark blue, starry sky in the background. The artwork blends elements of nature and patriotism in a surreal composition.

My interest in art began as a child under the influence of my mother. She was an artist that created artwork for major department stores in New York City such as Sears, Macy’s, and Bloomingdale’s to name a few. Most of her artwork was for the fashion industry, used for displays and advertising. I soon found myself drawing and painting pictures all the time. Later in life I met John, now my husband, who introduced me to photography. I was quick to learn how to use different cameras and lenses and soon was developing my own film and making prints in our dark room. I was able to add to my skills by studying with The New York Institute of Photography. My artistic hobbies had to take a back seat since I became too busy raising a family. After our daughter grew up and was on her own, we moved to the Florida Gulf Coast where I once again actively started pursuing my love for art. David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith. He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting in 1976.

About the Artist

Paintings by John Lautermilch
John Lautermilch is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. His interest in art began in early childhood, and by the age of eight, he began painting. John won his first art show while still in elementary school, and by the time he was in high school, his art was being displayed and sold in local restaurants.

After high school, John attended the School of Fine Arts at Washington University on a scholarship. The year he graduated, his work was accepted by the St. Louis Art Museum for exhibit in their annual show.

Throughout his career, John has won numerous awards and prizes in various art shows. He has also done many commissioned works both for individual collectors and institutions, including a series of paintings for a Lutheran organization in St. Louis. He held an exhibit of water lily paintings at the Missouri Botanical Garden and is now represented at Componere Art Gallery in St. Louis.

Artist Statement
I am fascinated by the color, light patterns, and variety found in nature–particularly with respect to water lilies. One can spend a life time and never come close to capturing the beauty and tranquility found in the natural world. I feel blessed to have the time to look so deeply into the life around me and hope to share that feeling with you through my paintings.
