David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith. He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting in 1976.

David has had 35 one man shows at Veerhoff Galleries, Washington, D.C.;
The Regency Gallery, Washington ,D.C.; Mickelson’s Bill Parker Gallery, Washington, D.C.;
Gallery West, Alexandria, Virginia; The Potomac Gallery, Alexandria,Virginia; The National Park Service in Washington and Virginia; Crestar Bank; Montgomery Cable; Picolo’s; erl Originals, and others, as well as over 100 group shows in the past years He has been selected Artist in Residence for the National Park Service and his work has appeared on NBC television, in addition to other local programming in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He is the recipient of many prizes and awards, including Artist of the Month for Jerry’s Artarama on Facebook and is represented in many Corporate and private collections throughout the country.
