When I created Decision Point, I wanted to capture the complexity of making tough choices. That tiny yellow circle, which I added after some reflection, symbolizes a head—almost like a person caught in the tension of deciding between two paths. The sweeping golden curve represents the flow of possibilities, while the bold diagonal line divides the outcomes, showing the stark contrast between different decisions. The fiery red framing adds to the intensity of that moment when everything feels high-stakes. For me, this piece is about those pivotal moments we all face—when we have to weigh our options and choose a direction.
About the Artist
AbstraArt Gallery
I'm Kent Marvin and as an artist, my work is an ever-evolving reflection of my experiences and the world around me. Growing up immersed in my father’s commercial photography business, I developed an appreciation for the precision and beauty in everyday moments. This exposure to visual storytelling sparked my lifelong passion for art. Though it began as a hobby, it has now blossomed into a deeper, more focused practice.
I don’t set out to create with a specific theme in mind. Instead, my art is born from whatever is in my mind at a given moment, whether it's a thought, a feeling, or a scene from something I've experienced that day. My inspiration often arises from a variety of sources—whether it’s a powerful image in a movie, a fleeting moment in a TV show, or the simplicity of something I witness in daily life. The beauty of these moments speaks to me in different ways, guiding my brush and my colors.
As I approach each piece, I let the work unfold naturally, embracing spontaneity and intuition. My background in engineering and my time in the US Air Force have taught me discipline and structure, but in my art, I find freedom. It is this balance between precision and emotion, control and spontaneity, that defines my creative process.
My goal has been to create art that resonates with viewers on a personal level. Each painting is an invitation to step into my world—a world where art is both a journey and a reflection of life's countless inspirations.
Respectfully,
Kent C. Marvin
