My grandmother's Singer sewing machine resides in my home after a lifetime in my mother's home. Standing vigil for three generations, it symbolizes the values of hard work and economy with a creative flair. My mother's sewed for the public for years, and it was upon this old Singer that she learned the basics of sewing. Never could I part with this reminder of my roots.

I became interested in oil painting while in junior high school and painted for fun whenever I could. However, as an adult I became more focused, stealing precious moments when possible from full-time parenting and a teaching career. My children grew up with a mother who would carve out a corner of the garage or storage building to have painting space. Now their possessed mom is truly serious and loving every moment at the easel.
