Darby Anderson Studio
My name is Darby Anderson and I have been painting for many years. I primarily do landscapes in oil and pastel and adding more work in 2025. I have studied art under Gary Bowling, Milt Heinrich and Michael Ome Untiedt, all whose work is fairly well known. I paint what speaks to me. My work is perhaps more stark in comparison from my years painting in Colorado before moving back to the Midwest. The air is dry there and the sunlight is hard edged without the mists and thicker atmosphere of the plains and fields in the heart of the country. Since moving back I've softened the edges a bit and adapted for more atmosphere but I still prefer sunny days filled with contrasting shadows to offset each other. I also keep my pallet pretty simple and basic from my days painting on location. I am also aware that many locations I choose have a sense of being a kind of sacred place.
